Free trade is a system in which goods, capital, and labor flow freely between nations, without barriers which could hinder the trade process. It is opening up of economies (markets) by bringing down trade barriers which in turn allows goods and services from everywhere around the globe to compete with domestic products and services. Free trade agreements are treaties that regulate the tariffs, taxes, and duties that countries impose on their imports and exports. The most well-known U.S. regional trade agreement is the North American Free Trade Agreement. Free trade has been a dominant part of the post-WW2 global economy, but it is now being challenged.
